Intalio|Works BAM provides a Report Viewer that integrates with Intalio|Works Portal and provides online access to real-time dashboards. During deployment, metrics are mapped to external metric sinks (data sources) that collect them. The mapping definition depends on the type of metric sink used, but typically includes:
- Connection configuration (host, authentication, etc).
- Table name, queue name, event sink name.
- Optional mapping between value names and external representation (e.g. column names, XML structure).
- Mapped properties.
Some properties are always available for mapping into the metric, and this mapping is done in the deployment configuration instead of the BAM activity. These properties include process name, process instance, date/time, and process owner. Typically, derived metrics are dumped as is, and aggregated afterwards. However, metrics can also be aggregated in real time, by configuring the database to include a collection configuration. The collection configuration will specify the keys used for grouping related records, and the manner in which other fields are aggregated (last value, sum, min, count, etc.).
Reports produced by Intalio|Works BAM are fetched directly from the BAM database, thereby creating no additional load for neither the process server nor the process database. This architecture also permits the deployment of Intalio|Works BAM on a separate server, alongside a separate BAM server, which is recommended for mission-critical environments. Users can also integrate third-party reporting tools that may enhance the visual representation of the information, such as Crystal Reports.
